Happy Friday.

Is it just me, or is everyone deeply tired right now? Not sleep-deprived-tired, but that heavy, late-summer kind of tired where your brain still thinks it’s June but the calendar says summer’s about over.

I’ve noticed this specific kind of tired usually shows up for me in late July—when it’s still blazing hot outside, but something in the air has shifted. The light feels different. The days look long, but somehow feel short. School is starting, fall’s right around the corner (except for us in Arizona—we don’t really get fall, but we pretend), the holidays are coming.

I’m calling it transition tired. The kind that comes from doing a lot, but nothing that’s easy to explain. We just moved out of our cabin, so we’re in the thick of sorting and consolidating, weeding through boxes and asking important questions like, why on earth do we have three gravy boats?

It’s not exactly physically exhausting, but it’s definitely the kind of thing that makes you stare at the same drawer for 10 minutes and then go lie down. It’s all too much.

And the timing of it all? Right on brand. Late July always feels like the pause before life speeds up again. That time between tying up summer’s loose ends and the insane busyness of fall (which will be here in two seconds, I’m afraid). The little lull before the holidays sneak up and we all pretend we’re going to be so prepared this year (but are we really?).

So today, if you’re feeling a little worn out, just know you’re not alone. I think it’s okay to eat watermelon and crackers for dinner (it’s me) and ignore a few texts. Let the boxes sit. The mess will wait. Light the candle. And call it a Friday well spent.

Wishing you a restful weekend,

P.S. What’s been zapping your energy lately? The heat? The mental clutter? All the stuff that needs decisions? Tell me everything.

P.P.S Photo is of our bedroom in the cabin—not me reminiscing like crazy over here (I’m not sad, no I’m not 😭).
